Hairpieces & Hair Additions

Hair pieces are fabulous to use for special occasions or when growing your hair long. They add fullness & length when & where needed.

They come in varied sizes, shapes, lengths & colours: straight, wavy or curly. Needless to say, it is best to choose a colour as near as possible to your own hair colour.

Hair additions are normally meant for updo’s or to add volume to short to medium long layered hair that is very fine or limp. They are available as braided buns, chignons, ponytails, bangs & fillers.

Hair pieces are also made in human hair or synthetic fibres and should be cared for in the same manner as wigs.

When investing in a hair piece make sure it is lightweight and that it has a strong base.

If your hair addition doesn’t come with hair combs or clips attached, make sure you pin your hair piece securely to your own hair with hair pins.

How to Choose the Right Type of Hair Color

When you consider changing your hair colour it is important to know what different types of hair colour there are on the market so you can choose the right one for its effect & duration on your hair.

The primary goal of hair coloring is cosmetic. It is used to either enhance your own natural hair colour, to cover up grey hair, to change you hair to a completely different colour, to add shine to hair or to temporarily create fun looks for special occasions.
Hair colorants work with different chemical processes depending on the type of hair colorant and the end result you which to obtain.

Hair color will either strip your hair of pigment, replace the pigment in your hair shaft, bond with your own natural pigment found in your hair or temporarily cover the your hair shaft with a different colour.

Ultimately the reasons you have for changing your hair colour should determine the type of hair colorant you choose.

Temporary Hair Colorant

Temporary hair colorant comes in rinses, lotions, gels, shampoos & spray-on.

They act to either enhance your own natural colour by adding shine & depth or to temporarily give you a funky, fun hair colour.

Temporary hair colorant only contains a tint and not a developer which means they don’t bond with the hair cuticle as permanent hair color does.

With rinses & shampoos the effect is minimal and they do not cover grey hair.
Temporary hair colour can be easily removed and they normally wash out after the first shampoo. Some very bright funky colours might take several shampoos before they wash out of blonde hair
The gels, lotions & spray-on types, in vivid colours, are great fun for Halloween & costume parties. You can get very creative with these by combining different colours, using streaks, only colouring your fringe or the ends of your hair.
